About The Regulatory Desk

Masthead, method, sources, and the line between a public record and a verdict

The Regulatory Desk is a small independent brief on how health products, clinic tools and patient rules are actually policed — not how they are advertised. Every note starts from a public record and stays inside it.

What is published here

Five beats: FDA warning letters; devices and drugs; clinic software; malpractice reporting; and the advocacy questions that sit behind an open record. Each note paraphrases and quotes one public document, links that document, and stops there. The sources list at the foot of every note carries the primary records the note was built from.

Where the records come from

FDA’s warning-letter database and safety communications; the Office of Inspections and Investigations electronic reading room; Department of Justice announcements and court dockets; the National Practitioner Data Bank guidebook and public-use file; the Code of Federal Regulations as published in the eCFR; and peer-reviewed literature indexed in PubMed. Where a firm has published its own material on a matter, that material is linked too.

What a warning letter is, and is not

A warning letter is an administrative notice. It states FDA’s position that a firm is out of compliance and asks for a written response. It is not a court judgment, not a finding of fraud, and not a verdict about any clinic or clinician who uses a named product. FDA may issue a close-out letter once it has verified that corrections were actually made; until it does, the letter stands on the agency’s public record as issued.

Byline and independence

Notes are published under the masthead rather than under a personal byline. The Regulatory Desk is not a government body and is not affiliated with FDA, the Department of Justice, the Health Resources and Services Administration, or with any firm named in a note. It carries no advertising and takes no payment from any party named in a note.

Corrections

Corrections are posted on the page where the error appeared, with the date and a plain statement of what changed. The standing policy, and the running log, are on the corrections page.

Reading the desk

The notes are the product. A machine-readable feed is at feed.xml for anyone who already uses a reader. There is no mailing-list form on this site. Cloudflare counts visits and the country, region, and city they come from. The city is an estimate from the network address, not a street address. There are no advertising scripts, no web fonts, and no cookies.

The Regulatory Desk publishes notes on public records. It is not legal advice and it is not a government site.
